Island Oceanic Reserve – Scuba Diving
The second best scuba dive spot in Continental Costa Rica! A
world-renowned oceanographic, wonderland rich in underwater
life with intact fish populations, the island, aside from scuba
diving, is a popular site for: snorkeling • swimming •
boogie boarding • bird-watching • hiking in lush
tropical vegetation • paying a respectful visit to archeological
sites and an Indigenous burial ground; and relaxing on the beach.
Includes: about a 30 min. boat ride, park fees,
picnic lunch, 2 dives, tanks, dive master guide, and full equipment
(bcd, regulator, wetsuit, fins, etc); divers must bring their
diving certificate! We leave Guaria at 8 am, after breakfast;

Visit our local neighbor only 10 min. away – don Adam and his
wife, Tico (Costa Rican) elders who have more than 15 cats,
a fabulous garden, and a coconut grove!! Drink delicious coconut
milk from coconuts shaken off the tree in front of your eyes;
scooping the soft, juicy, rich, healthy, milky coconut Ômeat'
with a coconut spoon carved with a machete. Chat with our good
neighbor about medicinal plants, Osa Archeology and History.

Corcovado
National Park is Costa Rica's Crown Jewel of Park System!
The region is rich in biological diversity with hundreds
of species of birds and one of tropical America's most vibrant
Scarlet Macaw populations. Monkeys, toucans, and, although rarely
seen, tapirs, jaguars, boa constrictors are all citizens of
this forest reserve. Corcovado and its neighboring region are
famous for its intact tropical rainforest coming right down
to the pristine Pacific Ocean! Includes a 4-hour forest hike
into Corcovado to the waterfalls at Playa Llorona, swimming,
birding, and a boat ride back to Guaria from the San Pedrillo
Ranger Station.

year, it is likely you will snorkel and play with dolphins in
the blue, warm, clear water of the Pacific Ocean bordering the
Osa Peninsula. In these waters reside: Sea Turtles, Giant Manta
Rays, Pilot, Sperm, Blue, and False Killer Whales, Orcas, Pantropical
Spotted, Spinner, Bottle-nose, Rough-Toothed, Common and Spinners,

2) Horseback riding to a local homestead; through Primary Rainforest
bordering Corcovado National Park and along Guaria's secluded
beach, called Rinc n de San Josecito (St. Joseph's Hideout).

Playa
San Josecito: This is a leisurely 15 min. beach/forest
walk north of Guaria de Osa. This beach-shore landing is probably
as spectacular as the most paradisiacal ambience of the South
Pacific Islands, offering excellent swimming and an amazing
little coral cove for safe snorkeling. At San Josecito we visit
a beautiful garden, rent a kayak, swim, and/or relax by the
ocean side.
Río
Claro: Continuing north for another 15 min. stroll, we
come to Río Claro, a jade green river with waterfalls
where the forest kisses the sea! This jungle river with crystal-clear
pools is our favorite picnic ground and makes for a great beach
day – hang our hammocks, play Frisbee, have loads of fun, relax
and play in a beautiful forest and in waterfalls. At Río
Claro there are wonderful coves for the more adventuresome snorkelers.
Lobsters, Blue Jacks, Red Snapper, Blue Sea Stars, Moray Eels,
Manta Rays, and other tropical fish are commonly seen. Río
Claro is a fresh water river – idyllic for river canoeing and
its world-class surf spot boast powerful right and left waves,
revealing, at times, perfect surf tubes! Río Claro also
lends to swimming, snorkeling, boogie-boarding, kayaking, and
of course, forest hikes and birding all along the way. Includes:
picnic lunch, guide(s), and park fees and you can bring hammocks
for lounging at the river's edge. We leave Guaria at 9
am, after breakfast; return by 4 pm.

Saint
Joseph's Ridge Loop Trail
Rainforest and Scenic Lookouts included in vacation packages
and group rate. This is a half-day's rainforest
trek looping up a steep ridge up behind Guaria de Osa; in part,
a vigorous hike. Panoramic views of San Josecito Beach, the
Pacific Ocean and its majestic expanse, with outcroppings like
Campanario – Bell Point – and Isla del Caño – Canyon
Island. This path winds through primary forest leading to huge
trees and a most majestic ancient Nazareno Purple Heart Tree.
Birds of many kinds are always seen on this trail. In addition,
toucans, coatis, guans, and white hawks – Howler monkeys, spider
monkeys and/or white-faced capuchin monkeys oftentimes show
up to greet you along your way!!! Includes:
trail snacks & guide(s). We leave Guaria at 8 am after breakfast;
return by 2 pm for a late lunch
